Description

A Sunrise over the Ionian Sea, seen from the east Calabrian coast in the south of Italy.

A very small sliver of a crescent Moon is rising from the red light of the sunrise right below the two brightest planets of the solar system.

Venus is in the center/left of the picture and Jupiter is in the upper/central part of the frame.

Right under Jupiter, a dim star is visible. That is Asellus Australis or Delta Cancri (δ Cancri).

It is a double star about 180 light-years from the Sun in the constellation of Cancer.

That announced the starting of another lovely summer day on the beach. Warm welcoming water and fresh seafood was coming next...
